Top 3 Reasons to Take Our Postpartum Recovery & Infant Care Class
Setting aside time to prepare for your childbirth recovery as well as your baby’s arrival is important, regardless of how you choose to give birth. All the fuss around childbirth classes and birth preparation can overshadow the importance of preparing for the postpartum period. But knowing what to expect from your body, your baby, and your health care providers is an essential first step in preparing for an empowered and positive postpartum experience. There are so many choices to make, and a lot of changes that will occur in your life after your baby’s birth. Take it from us, learning about all of this “stuff” ahead of time is much better than navigating your way through recovery and infant care through the haze of postpartum—the period (hopefully), not the depression.
You could scroll through Amazon and find a seemingly endless list of books about newborn care and postpartum recovery. How do you choose?
You could Google your questions as they come, but sorting through the answers—or even knowing what to ask!—is entirely overwhelming.
You could talk to your friends and family about their experiences. Knowing what they went through and learning from your community’s collective knowledge can be incredibly helpful and reassuring…except when it doesn’t align with your values.
Why not take a workshop focused on presenting your options and providing accurate, up-to-date information instead? Learning what you need to know in a neutral and judgment-free environment sounds so much better!
Here are the top three reasons you should take our exclusive Postpartum Recovery & Infant Care Workshop before your baby comes:
We’re going to talk about a whole lot of baby “stuff” during our workshops, including:
Most importantly, you will have an opportunity to discuss your goals and plans for when you’re home with your baby. We foster a supportive and judgment-free space in our classes to ensure everyone feels safe sharing and asking questions. Private workshop options are available (and have benefits of their own!), but group workshops mean you benefit from the knowledge and perspective of parents-to-be just like you. Better yet, they’re giving birth in the same community and working with the same health care providers as you are, too.
A great postpartum and infant care class will help you develop a thorough understanding of everything you need to know from the moment your baby is born and throughout the first while home with your baby. You’ll watch videos, engage in hands-on practice, read articles, ask questions and share experiences. You can expect to be taught about normal recovery from birth (both vaginal and surgical) and things that you and your partner should watch for. We’ll show you how to care for your new baby, including information on diapering, babywearing, bathing, infant sleep, umbilical cord care, breastfeeding, bottle feeding, and more.
Best of all, you’ll get to do all of this with your partner so that when your baby arrives you’ll both feel confident and prepared. It’ll make a big difference when both parents are knowledgeable and empowered. It also means that your partner will know more about how to help you with your recovery and what to watch for when it comes to postpartum mood disorders. Your Postpartum Recovery & Infant Care Workshop is a beautiful opportunity to carve out some time for you and your partner to focus on your baby’s arrival together.
The couple that learns together, parents together. It just makes sense. But if you don’t have a partner, don’t worry! Bring along your primary support or attend alone—you’ll still get tons out of the session.
Everyone is always talking about empowered birth, but no one talks about feeling strong and supported during the postpartum period. It’s a new conversation, and one Shore Grace Family Wellness wants to head up in our community.
We strive to strike a balance between helping you create goals and plans for your ideal experience and preparing for the “what-ifs” of having a new baby. We want you to feel confident that you can have the postpartum and parenting experience that you’re fantasizing about, while knowing that you have the tools and information you need to make choices that feel right for you.
Our Postpartum Recovery & Infant Care Workshop will help to normalize postpartum recovery and help you feel excited and prepared about those firsts with your baby — first bath, first night home, first trip out, etc.
Remember that postpartum ≠ depression. Postpartum is a time to get to know your baby and nourish your body after its great achievement and hard work. Postpartum is beautiful, and you’ll believe that when you leave our workshop.
Those first days, weeks, and months after your baby is born will be some of your most precious memories. Becoming a parent is monumental. Regardless of how you plan to give birth, or the style of parenting you want to follow, being able to look back on your experience as a new parent and feel that you were prepared will go a long way to making those memories empowering and positive. So, what are you waiting for? Register for our Postpartum Recovery & Infant Care Workshop today!
